Duplex and Super Duplex Pipe/ Tube

Duplex and Super Duplex Pipes/Tubes offer a balance between high corrosion resistance, good mechanical strength, and excellent weldability compared to standard stainless steel. They are ideal for demanding environments like seawater applications.

The term “NB” refers to Nominal Bore, a designation related to the pipe’s diameter.

Schedules (5S, 10, etc.) specify the pipe wall thickness. Choosing the appropriate schedule depends on the pressure rating requirements of your application.

The form (Seamless, ERW, Welded) refers to the manufacturing method used to create the pipe/tube. Seamless pipes offer the highest strength but are generally more expensive.

Round and Square are the most common shapes available, although other shapes may be obtainable depending on the supplier.

The available grades (UNS S31803, UNS S32750, etc.) cater to various levels of corrosion resistance and strength requirements. Consulting a specialist can help you select the most suitable grade based on factors like:

    • Severity of corrosive environment: Duplex and Super Duplex grades offer superior corrosion resistance compared to standard stainless steel, but some grades may be better suited for specific corrosive media (e.g., seawater).
    • Operating temperatures: These alloys generally perform well at moderate to elevated temperatures.
    • Pressure requirements: The chosen grade and schedule should meet or exceed your pressure needs.
    • Formability: Certain grades are more suitable for bending or forming processes, if required for your application.
